Nuclear Physics Question 8

Question 8 - 2024 (31 Jan Shift 2)

A nucleus has mass number $A _1$ and volume $V _1$. Another nucleus has mass number $A _2$ and volume $V _2$. If relation between mass number is $A _2=4 A _1$, then $\frac{V _2}{V _1}=$

Show Answer

Answer: (4)

Solution:

For a nucleus

Volume: $V=\frac{4}{3} \pi R^{3}$

$R=R _0(A)^{1 / 3}$

$V=\frac{4}{3} \pi R _0^{3} A$

$\Rightarrow \frac{V _2}{V _1}=\frac{A _2}{A _1}=4$
