Magnetic Effects Of Current Question 9

Question 9 - 2024 (29 Jan Shift 2)

A charge of $4.0 \mu C$ is moving with a velocity of $4.0 \times 10^{6} ms^{-1}$ along the positive y-axis under a magnetic field $\vec{B}$ of strength $(2 \hat{k})$ T. The force acting on the charge is $x \hat{i} N$. The value of $x$ is

Show Answer

Answer: (32)

Solution:

$q=4 \mu C, \overrightarrow{v}=4 \times 10^{6} \hat{j m} / s$

$\overrightarrow{B}=2 k \hat{T}$

$\overrightarrow{F}=q(\overrightarrow{v} \times \overrightarrow{B})$

$=4 \times 10^{-6}\left(4 \times 10^{6} \hat{j} \times 2 \hat{k}\right)$

$=4 \times 10^{-6} \times 8 \times 10^{6} \hat{i}$

$\overrightarrow{F}=32 \hat{i N}$

$x=32$
