The work 1 is completed by $P$ and $M$ together and work 2 is completed by $V$ and $S$ together. What is the difference between total days taken to complete both the work?

(1) $3 \frac{11}{15}$

(2) $2 \frac{15}{29}$

(3) $2 \frac{8}{15}$

(4) $3 \frac{13}{29}$

(5) None of these

Show Answer

Answer: (5)

Solution: (5)

Time taken by $P$ and $M$ in doing work $1=1 \div\left(\frac{1}{7}+\frac{1}{8}\right)$ $=1 \div\left(\frac{8+7}{56}\right)=\frac{56}{15}$ days
Time taken by $V$ and $S$ in doing work 2 $=1 \div\left(\frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{7}\right)=1 \div\left(\frac{7+8}{56}\right)$ $=\frac{56}{15}$ days

No difference

Required difference $=0$ days
