IIT Bombay has announced that the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2024) will be held on January 21, 2024, from 9 AM to 12 Noon in 27 national cities. The draft answer key for Part A of CEED 2024 has been released on January 23, 2024. You can access it on the official CEED website, ceed.iitb.ac.in. Candidates can also challenge the draft answer key until January 25, 2024.
The UCEED admit card is now available for download from the official website. The scores of the CEED exam will be valid for admission to the M.Des and Ph.D. programs offered by participating colleges for one year from the date of the result declaration.
The online registration process for the CEED exam 2024 started on October 3, 2023. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can fill out the CEED 2024 application form at ceed.iitb.ac.in. The registration with a late fee closed on November 20th. The CEED exam question paper and draft answer key will be released on January 23, 2024.
Qualified aspirants of the CEED entrance exam 2024 can apply for admission to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Jodhpur, and IISc Bangalore. The scorecard for the Common Entrance Exam for Design 2024 is valid for one year from the result declaration. Based on last year’s data, the expected cutoff for CEED 2024 is 22.59 (Mean) and 11.82 (Standard), respectively.
What is the CEED Entrance Exam?
The CEED Entrance Exam is a national level exam conducted by IIT Bombay. It is designed to offer admission to aspiring students in various M.Des and Ph.D. programs at CEED exam participating institutes. The exam is conducted once a year in 27 cities across the nation. The CEED 2024 exam consists of two papers - Part A and Part B. Part A is a computer-based test on Aptitude and math, while Part B is a paper-based test with questions on drawing. Students who qualify the CEED exam can apply for admission to CEED exam-participating institutes and other result-sharing institutes. IIT Bombay has started the CEED 2024 application form on October 03, 2023, in online mode. The institute closed CEED registration for 2024, including the late fee option. The earlier deadline for submitting the CEED application form with the regular fee had expired on November 13, 2023.
The application procedure is online where candidates have to register first, followed by entering personal and academic details, uploading documents, and finally making the payment. Some important guidelines:
- Candidates are provided with scribble pads for rough work in Part A, which must be returned at the end of the exam.
- Color pencils, crayons, sketch pens, etc. can be used in Part B unless specified otherwise in the questions.
- Charts, graph sheets, tables, calculators, cellular phones, and other electronic gadgets are not allowed in the exam hall.
CEED Exam Syllabus
IIT Bombay has made changes to the syllabus and exam structure for the CEED entrance exams.
According to the new paper structure, the CEED entrance exam will have two parts: Part A and Part B.
- Part A will be a computer-based test and will consist of three sections: NAT, MSQ, and MCQ. The CEED exam consists of two parts: Part A and Part B.
- Part B includes two questions, one related to drawing and the other related to design aptitude. The questions in Part B will be displayed on a computer screen, and the answers should be written or drawn in the answer book provided by the supervisor. The duration of Part B is 60 minutes.
The CEED exam syllabus covers various topics. In Part A, the exam focuses on visualization and spatial reasoning, practical and scientific knowledge, observation and design sensitivity, environment and society, analytical and logical reasoning, language proficiency, creativity, art and design knowledge, and design methods and practices.

CEED admit card 2024
The CEED admit card for 2024 was released on January 5th at 1 p.m. It can be downloaded from the official website until the date of the examination. Candidates need to log in to their dashboard to access and download the admit card. After downloading, it is important to verify the details for accuracy. A color printout of the admit card, along with a valid photo ID, must be brought to the exam hall. In case of any discrepancies in the admit card, corrections can be made. IIT Bombay has released the draft answer key for CEED 2024 on January 23, 2024. The answer key is available in pdf format on the official CEED website. Students can challenge the draft answer key if they find any discrepancies within the given time.

Guidelines for CEED 2024 Cutoff marks:
As mentioned, marks obtained in Part A will be used to shortlist candidates.
- The cut-off for Part A (δ) marks to shortlist candidates in the open category: μ + (σ/2) = δ, where μ and σ are the average marks and standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2024. The μ and σ will be rounded off to two decimal places.
- Cut-offs for the OBC-NCL category will be 0.9δ of the Open category.
- Cutoffs for SC, ST, and PWD category candidates will be 0.5δ of the Open category.

- There is no common counselling for admissions through Common Entrance Exam for Design 2024. Instead, students must apply separately to the institute of their choice from the given participating institutes on the basis of their CEED exam scores if they meet the specific eligibility criteria of each.
