Problem 9 : Calculate the molar mass of ammonia (NH₃), a compound commonly used in household cleaning products.
Solution :
The molar mass of ammonia (NH₃) can be calculated by summing the molar masses of its constituent atoms:
- Nitrogen (N): 14.01 g/mol
- Hydrogen (H): 1.01 g/mol Molar mass of NH₃ = (1 × Molar mass of N) + (3 × Molar mass of H) Molar mass of NH₃ = (1 × 14.01 g/mol) + (3 × 1.01 g/mol) Molar mass of NH₃ = 17.04 g/mol
