1. Thermodynamic Systems
Concepts:
- Definition: A thermodynamic system is a part of the universe whose boundaries are identified for an analysis involving matter or energy transfer.
-Classification Of Systems
**Thermodynamic System | Properties** |
---|
- Open System: -Matter and energy exchange.
-* Closed System:
- Energy exchange - not matter.
- Isolated System: Neither energy nor matter exchange.
-State Variables:
_Physical quantities whose values define the present state of the systems are called *State Variables*_.
- Some state variables P, V, and T completely define the condition of the closed or isolated systems and are sufficient to know its past & future. State variables are independent of path.
Note: An Open system is never used because they are so unpredictable.
