(a) As we know, the refractive index of the material of the prism

$μ = \frac{\sin (\frac{δ_{m} + A}{2})}{\sin (A / 2)}$

$\begin{aligned} \cot A / 2 = \frac{\sin (\frac{A + δ_{m}}{2})}{\sin A / 2} = \frac{\cos (A / 2)}{\sin (A / 2)} \\ [∵ μ = \cot (A / 2)] \end{aligned}$

$\Rightarrow \sin (\frac{δ_{m} + A}{2}) = \sin (90^{\circ} + A / 2)$

$\Rightarrow δ_{min} = 180^{\circ} - 2 A$
