Electromagnetic Induction - Result Question 25
25. Two coils of self inductances $2 mH$ and $8 mH$ are placed so close together that the effective flux in one coil is completely linked with the other. The mutual inductance between these coils is
(a) $6 mH$
(b) $4 mH$
(c) $16 mH$
(d) $10 mH$

Show Answer
Answer:
Correct Answer: 25. (b)
Solution:
- (b) Mutual Inductance of two coils
$M=\sqrt{M_1 M_2}=\sqrt{2 m H \times 8 m H}=4 m H$
It is not possible to have mutual inductance without self inductance but if may or may not be possible self inductance without mutual in ductance.
