Solution:

(a) It is a balanced wheatstone bridge $(∵ \frac{3}{4} = \frac{6}{8})$ , so the $7 Ω$ resistance is ineffective. Equivalent resistance of $3 Ω$ and $4 Ω = 3 + 4$ $= 7 Ω$ (series)

Equivalent resistance of $6 Ω$ and $8 Ω = 6 + 8$

$= 14 Ω$ (series)

Equivalent resistance of $7 Ω$ and $14 Ω$ (parallel)

$= \frac{7 \times 14}{7 + 14} = \frac{14}{3} Ω$
