  1. (c) The no. of atoms is a unit cell may be calculated by the the formula

Z=nc8+nb1+nf2+ne4

where nc= no. of atom at the corner nb= no. of atoms at body centre nf= no. of atoms at face centre, ne= no. of atoms at edge centre.

An fcc crystal contains

=88+62=4 atoms in a unit cell.
