(a) 8
(b) 6
(c) 1
(d) 4

Show Answer
Solution:
- (a) Diamond is like $ZnS$. In diamond cubic unit cell, there are eight corner atoms, six face centered atoms and four more atoms inside the structure (tetrahedral voids).
Total no. of atoms present per unit cell
$=8 \times \frac{1}{8}+6 \times \frac{1}{2}+4=8$
$\begin{matrix} \text{ (corners) (face } & \text{ (inside } \\ \text{ centered) body) }\end{matrix} $
