(a) H2S<H2Se<H2Te

[2014]

(b) H2Se<2H2S<H22Te

(c) H2Te<H2S<H2Se

(d) H2Se<H2Te<H2S

Show Answer

Solution:

  1. (a) The weakning of MH bond with increase in size of M (where M=S,Se,Te ) explains the acid character of hydrides.

On moving down the group, atomic size increases hence, bond length increases and hence, removal tendency of H also increases.
