####4. Equal masses of $H_2, O_2$ and methane have been taken in a container of volume $V$ at temperature $27^{\circ} C$ in identical conditions. The ratio of the volumes of gases $H_2: O_2$ : methane would be :

(a) $8: 16: 1$

  1. (c) According to Avogadro’s law “At same temperature and pressure. Volume $\propto$ no. of moles”

$n _{H_2}=\frac{w}{2} ; \quad n _{O_2}=\frac{w}{32} ; n _{CH_4}=\frac{w}{16}$

$\because V _{H_2}: V _{O_2}: V _{CH_4}=n _{H_2}: n _{O_2}: n _{CH_4}$

$=\frac{w}{2}: \frac{w}{32}: \frac{w}{16}=16: 1: 2$
