Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry - Result Question 17
####17. The maximum number of molecules is present in
(a) $15 L^{2}$ of $H_2$ gas at STP
[2004] (c) $0.5 g$ of $H_2$ gas
(d) $10 g$ of $O_2$ gas
Show Answer
Solution:
- (a) No. of molecules in different cases
(a) $\because 22.4$ litre at STP contains
$=6.023 \times 10^{23}$ molecule of $H_2$
$\therefore 15$ litreat STP contains $=\frac{15}{22.4} \times 6.023 \times 10^{23}$
(b) $\because 22.4$ litre at STP contains
$=6.023 \times 10^{23}$ molecule of $N_2$
$\therefore 5$ litre at STP contians $=\frac{5}{22.4} \times 6.023 \times 10^{23}$
(c) $\because 2 g$ of $H_2=6.023 \times 10^{23}$ molecules of $H_2$
$\therefore 0.5 g _{of} H_2=\frac{0.5}{2} \times 6.023 \times 10^{23}$
$ =\frac{10}{32} \times 6.023 \times 10^{23} \text{ molecules } $
Thus (a) will have maximum number of molecules
