Solution:

  1. (d) As there is no lone pair on boron in $BCl_3$ therefore no repulsion takes place. But there is a lone pair on nitrogen in $NCl_3$. Therefore repulsion takes place. Thus, $BCl_3$ is planar molecule but $NCl_3$ is a pyramidal molecule.
