  1. (b) Hinsberg’s reagent is used to distinguish $1^{\circ}, 2^{\circ}$ and $3^{\circ}$ amine. Primary amines react with Hinsberg’s reagent to give precipitate. which is soluble in alkali while secondary amines give a product which is insoluble in alkali. Tertiary amines do not react with Hinsberg’s reagent.
