Answer : d

Hints & Solutions

(d) IUDs (Intra uterine devices) of all types are in general treated as a foreign body thus inviting phagocytic cells to the uterus. It is a small, T-shaped plastic and copper device. IUDs increase phagocytosis of sperms within the uterus and $Cu$ ions released suppress sperm motility and the fertilising capacity of sperms. IUDs need to be inserted by an experienced nurse and have to be replaced after few years depending on copper or hormonal level.
