(d) Saprophytes are organisms which live on dead organic matter and help in their decomposition. Parasites is an organisms that live in or on other living plants and animals and dependent on them for their food. Lichens represent a type of symbiotic association of algae and fungi, in which, both of them dependent on each other for their food and shelter. Mycorrhiza is also a type of symbiotic association of fungi and plant roots, e.g., Cycas coralloid root.
