Number Of Chromosomes In Humans

Chromosome Number in Humans: An Overview

The chromosome number in humans is 23 pairs, normally resulting in a total of 46 chromosomes per cell. Of these 23 pairs, 22 are autosomes, which are the same in both females and males. The 23rd pair, however, is the sex chromosomes, which differ in females and males and determine the sex of an individual.
