Motion In One Dimension Question 3

Question 3 - 2024 (01 Feb Shift 2)

A particle initially at rest starts moving from reference point. $x=0$ along $x$-axis, with velocity $v$ that varies as $v=4 \sqrt{xm} / s$. The acceleration of the particle is $ms^{-2}$.

Show Answer

Answer: (8)

Solution:

$V=4 \sqrt{x}$

$a=V \frac{dv}{dx}$

$=4 \sqrt{x} \times 4 \times \frac{1}{2} x^{-1 / 2}=8 m / s^{2}$
