Hydrocarbons Question 15

Question 15 - 2024 (30 Jan Shift 1)

Compound $A$ formed in the following reaction reacts with $B$ gives the product $C$. Find out $A$ and $B$.

(1) $A=CH _3-C \equiv \overline{CNa}, B=CH _3-CH _2-CH _2-Br$

(2) $A=CH _3-CH=CH _2, B=CH _3-CH _2-CH _2-Br$

(3) $A=CH _3-CH _2-CH _3, B=CH _3-C \equiv CH$

(4) $A=CH _3-C \equiv \overline{C}^{+} a, B=CH _3-CH _2-CH _3$

Show Answer

Answer (1)

Solution

$$ \begin{array}{r} CH _3-C \equiv CH \xrightarrow{Na} CH _3-C \equiv C^{-} Na^{+}+\frac{CH _3 CH _2 CH _2-Br}{\text { } \downarrow} \\ NaBr+CH _3-C \equiv C-CH _2 CH _2 CH _3 \end{array} $$
