Three Dimensional Geometry Question 1

Question 1 - 24 January - Shift 1

The distance of the point $(7,-3,-4)$ from the plane passing through the points $(2,-3,1),(-1,1,-2)$ and $(3,-4,2)$ is :

(1) 4

(2) 5

(3) $5 \sqrt{2}$

(4) $4 \sqrt{2}$

Show Answer

Answer: (3)

Solution:

Formula: Equation Of A Plane, A Plane and A Point

Equation of Plane is

$= \begin{vmatrix} x-2 & y+3 & z-1 \\ -3 & 4 & -3 \\ 4 & -5 & 4\end{vmatrix} =0$

$x-z-1=0$

Distance of $P(7,-3,-4)$ from Plane is

$d=|\frac{7+4-1}{\sqrt{2}}|=5 \sqrt{2}$
