Show Answer
Solution:
- In Solvay process, $NaHCO _3$ is extracted from the solution by fractional crystallisation, which is then heated to convert it into $Na _2 CO _3 \cdot KHCO _3$, being more soluble than $NaHCO _3$, cannot be extracted by fractional crystallisation. Hence, Solvay process fails in production of $K _2 CO _3$.
