Solution:

  1. Halogens are all good oxidising agent and their oxidising power decreases from top to bottom (F2 to I2) in group. Any halogen above in group oxidises halides down in group from their aqueous solution. Hence, Cl2 can oxidise Br−to Br2, I−to I2 but cannot oxidise F−to F2 rather F2 can oxidise Cl−to Cl2.
