Solution:

  1. Mn2(CO)10 is an organometallic compound due to the presence of MnC bond. The metal-carbon bond in organometallic compounds possess both σ and π character. The MCσ bond is formed by the donation of lone pair of electrons from the carbonyl carbon into a vacant orbital of the metal. The MCπ-bond is formed by the donation of pair of electrons from a filled d-orbital of metal into vacant antibonding π orbital of CO. The ML bonding creates a synergic effect which strengthens the bond between CO and the metal.
