Wave Motion 5 Question 22
22. A plane wave of sound travelling in air is incident upon a plane water surface. The angle of incidence is $60^{\circ}$. Assuming Snell’s law to be valid for sound waves, it follows that the sound wave will be refracted into water away from the normal. $(1984,2 M$ )

Solution:
- For sound wave water is rarer medium because speed of sound wave in water is more. When a wave travels from a denser medium to rarer medium it refracts away from the normal.
