13. In a hydrogen like atom electron makes transition from an energy level with quantum number n to another with quantum number (n1). If n1, the frequency of radiation emitted is proportional to

Solution:

13.6 \times 4 \times \frac{1}{m^{2}}-\frac{1}{n^{2}}=\frac{h c}{108.5 nm} $$

and in second case,

13.6×4×1121m2=hc30.4nm11m2=1240eV30.4×13.6×4 Given, E=1240eVλ(innm)11m2=0.749800.75 or 1m2=10.75=0.25

m2=10.25=4

Hence, m=2

So, by putting the value of m in Eq. (ii), we get
