Correct Answer: 16. $9 c m$ from centre of bigger circle (leftwards)

Solution:

Suppose $r_{1}$ be the distance of centre of mass of the remaining portion from centre of the bigger circle, then

$\begin{aligned} A_{1} r_{1} & = A_{2} r_{2} \\ r_{1} & = \frac{A_{2}}{A_{1}} r_{2} \\ = \frac{π (42)^{2}}{π [(56)^{2} - (42)^{2}]} \times 7 = 9 c m \end{aligned}$
