(i) $TiCl _4+AlCl _3$ (Ziegler- Natta catalyst) is used to prepare polyethylene from ethene.

(ii) $V _2 O _5$ (Vanadium pentoxide) is used as catalyst to prepare $H _2 SO _4$ from contact process. Reaction involved is

$$ 2 SO _2(g)+O _2(g) \xrightarrow{V _2 O _5} 2 SO _3(g) $$

It is the key step in the manufacture of $H _2 SO _4$.

(iii) Fe (Iron) is used as catalyst in Haber’s process for the manufacture of ammonia.

$$ N _2(g)+3 H _2(g) \stackrel{Fe(s)}{\longrightarrow} 2 NH _3(g) $$

(iv) $Pd$ (Palladium) is used to prepare ethanal. Reaction involved is

$$ H _2 C=CH _2+O _2 \xrightarrow[H _2 O]{PdCl _2 / CuCl _2} CH _3 CHO $$

This reaction is also known as Wacker’s process.
