Chemical Kinetics - Result Question 44
####44. The following statement (s) is are correct
(a) A plot of $\log K _p v s \frac{1}{T}$ is linear
(b) A plot of $\log [X]$ vs time is linear for a first order reaction, $x \rightarrow p$
(c) A plot of $\log p v s \frac{1}{T}$ is linear at constant volume
(d) A plot of $p v s \frac{1}{V}$ is linear at constant temperature
Show Answer
Answer:
Correct Answer: 44. $(b, c, d)$
Solution:
- Equilibrium constant is related to temperature
$$ \log K _p=\text { constant }-\frac{\Delta H}{2.3 R T} $$
$\Rightarrow$ Plot of $\log K _p v s 1 / T$ will be a straight line.
For the first order reaction $\quad X \rightarrow P$
$$ \log \frac{[X] _0}{[X]}=\frac{k t}{2.3} \Rightarrow \log [X]=\log \left[X _0\right]-\frac{k t}{2.3} $$
i.e. $\log [X] v s$ ’ $t$ ’ will give a straight line.
Also at constant temperature, $p V=$ constant
$\Rightarrow$ Plot of $p v s \frac{1}{V}$ will give a straight line.
