Chemical and Ionic Equilibrium - Result Question 85
####29. The $%$ yield of ammonia as a function of time in the reaction, $N _2(g)+3 H _2(g) \rightleftharpoons 2 NH _3(g) ; \Delta H<0$
(2015 adv.)
at $\left(p, T _1\right)$ is given below.
If this reaction is conducted at $\left(p, T _1\right)$, with $T _2>T _1$ the $%$ yield by of ammonia as a function of time is represented by
(a)
(c)
(b)
Show Answer
Solution:
- Since, the reaction is exothermic, there will be less ammonia at equilibrium and higher temperature. However, rate of reaction increases with rise in temperature, $NH _3$ will be formed at faster rate in the initial stage when the temperature is high.
