Answer:

Correct Answer: 9. (c)

Solution:

  1. $NaBH _4$ is a selective reducing agent. It can reduce $>C=O$ group into alcohol, $N$-methyl imine group, $Me-N=CH-$ into $2^{\circ}$-amine but cannot reduce an isolated $C=C$.

10 Acetylation by $Ac _2 O / Et _3 N$ is possible with $-NH _2\left(1^{\circ}\right.$-amine $)$ and $-OH$ (alcohol) groups only, but not with ’ $-NH _2$ ’ part of

$-C-NH _2$ (amide) groups, because the $l p$ of nitrogen in amide group is involved in resonance with $\geq C=O$ part.

$\left\lvert, \begin{aligned} & Ac _2 O \text { or }\left(CH _3 CO\right) _2 O(2 \text { moles }) \ & Et _3 N \ & -2 AcOH\end{aligned}\right.$
