####69. An aldehyde $A\left(C _{11} H _8 O\right)$, which does not undergo self aldol condensation, gives benzaldehyde and two moles of $B$ on ozonolysis. Compound $B$, on oxidation with silver ion gives oxalic acid. Identify the compounds $A$ and $B$.

Solution:

  1. Aldehyde $A$ does not has any $\alpha-H$ but undergo ozonolysis to give two moles of compound $B$ and benzaldehyde. Compound $B$ on oxidation gives oxalic acid, so $A$ is
