$ C+O_2\to CO_2 $ ; $ \Delta H=q $
$ C+1/2O_2\to CO $ ; $ \Delta H=-12 $ -..(i) $ CO+1/2O_2\to CO_2 $ ; $ \Delta H=-10 $ -..(ii) adding equation (i) and (ii) we can get $ \Delta H=-12+(-10)=-22 $
