Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘Shayari’ on INDIA’s Ayodhya Victory, and a Mention of ‘Yogi ji’

Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad was seated next to Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party, brought up a ‘shayari’ he had previously used to criticize Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. This resurfaced today in the Lok Sabha.

Yadav, now representing Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj in Parliament, was speaking during the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address. He expressed gratitude to the people of Uttar Pradesh for the impressive performance of his party in the Lok Sabha elections, particularly focusing on the Faizabad seat.

Ayodhya, a significant topic in this election due to the construction of the grand Ram Temple, falls under the Faizabad constituency. Samajwadi Party’s Awadhesh Prasad won this seat by more than 50,000 votes.

Earlier this year, during the budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Yadav had remarked that Adityanath managed all the arrangements for the Ram Temple inauguration but was not given prominence, as the spotlight was on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At that time, Yadav recited a shayari implying that the person who organized the event was ignored. He said, “Huzoor e ala khamosh baithe isi gham mein, mehfil lut le gaya koi jab sajai thi humne,” which means the host sat silently in sorrow as someone else stole the show.

Yadav also mentioned that the Chief Minister was seen making preparations for the temple’s opening but was “out of focus” on the main day. In the viral videos of his speech, Adityanath was seen smiling sportingly.

Today, the Kannauj MP brought back the shayari to criticize the BJP for losing the Faizabad seat despite highlighting the Ram Temple in their campaign.

“Some things remain relevant over time, so I am reminded of a ‘sher’ I read in the UP Assembly. It was fitting then, and even more so now,” Yadav said before repeating the shayari.

As he recited the shayari, Yadav patted the shoulder of his party colleague and Faizabad MP, Awadhesh Prasad, who responded, “Yogi ji ke liye (for Yogi ji).”

The shayari received loud cheers from the Opposition benches. Yadav continued, saying that the election result in Faizabad showed the “political understanding of the mature Indian voter.”

“We have heard that whatever Lord Ram wills, happens. This is his decision. Those who claimed they brought someone now rely on others’ support,” he said. This was a clear reference to the slogan ‘jo ram ko layein hain, hum unko layenge,’ used by the BJP during the election campaign, claiming credit for building the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The Samajwadi Party leader also criticized the Narendra Modi government over paper leaks, alleging that the government is behind these leaks to avoid providing jobs.
