New Delhi: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled three books that chronicle the life and achievements of former Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu. The event, held via video conference, marked the eve of Naidu’s 75th birthday.

The three books released by the Prime Minister include a biography titled “Venkaiah Naidu – Life in Service,” a photo chronicle and pictorial biography in Telugu called “Mahaneta – Life and Journey of Shri M Venkaiah Naidu,” and “Celebrating Bharat – The Mission and Message of Shri M Venkaiah Naidu as 13th Vice President of India.” These books will officially be available on July 1, Naidu’s birthday.

During the online ceremony, Modi expressed that these books would serve as an inspiration and guide for readers, encouraging them towards national service. He remarked, “Tomorrow, July 1st, is Naidu Ji’s birthday, marking 75 years of his remarkable journey. I am pleased to release his biography along with two other books today. I believe these books will inspire people and guide them towards national service.”

The book launch event in Hyderabad saw the attendance of Naidu, several other leaders, and notable personalities.

Reflecting on his long association with Naidu, the Prime Minister highlighted Naidu’s journey from a farmer’s son to holding significant positions in the country. He praised Naidu’s experiences as a source of learning and inspiration. Modi also mentioned Naidu’s sharp wit and insightful one-liners, stating, “His ideas are both deep and witty, filled with vision and wisdom.”

Recalling the Emergency of 1975, Modi noted, “Naidu Ji spent 17 months in prison and was among the leaders who bravely opposed the Emergency.”

Speaking about Naidu’s role as the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, Modi commended his handling of the situation when the Bill to abrogate Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir was passed.

In response, Naidu thanked the Prime Minister and acknowledged his efforts for the underprivileged. He emphasized the importance of development and welfare going hand in hand, cautioning against the temptation of freebies. “While free rations are helpful, skill development is crucial,” Naidu said.
