dual-nature-of-radiation-and-matter Question 48

Question: Q. 5. Figure shows a plot of 1V, where V is the accelerating potential. The de-Broglie wavelength ’ λ ’ in the case of two particles having same charge ’ q ’ but different masses m1 and m2. Which line (A or B ) represents a particle of larger mass?

Show Answer

Solution:

Ans.

λ=h2meV

Line-Slope (1Vλ)m

Since, $\quad\left(\frac{\frac{1}{\sqrt{V}}}{\lambda}\right){A}>\left(\frac{\frac{1}{\sqrt{V}}}{\lambda}\right){B}$

Hence, line A will represent larger mass.

 i.e., m1>m2 or mA>mB
