(a) The equivalent emf εeq of the two cells is between ε1 and ε2, i.e. ε1<εeq<ε2.

(b) The equivalent emf εeq is smaller than ε1.

(c) The εeq is given by εeq=ε1+ε2 always.

(d) εeq is independent of internal resistances r1 and r2.

Explanation: As we know that the equivalent emf in parallel combination of cells is :

εeq=(ε1r2+ε2r1)(r1+r2)

so, it is clear that part ’ c ’ and ’ d ’ are incorrect by formula. According to this formula only option (a), is correct.
