Directions : Read the following bar graph and line graph both carefully and answer the given questions.

The line graph shows the ratio of the number of male to female workers working in each department

What is the difference between the total number of male and female employees in the company?

(1) 34

(2) 24

(3) 14

(4) 4

(5) 0

Correct Answer: (4)

Solution: (4)

Department $A \Rightarrow$ Male : Female $= 1.2 = \frac{12}{10} = 6 : 5$

Sum of the terms of ratio $= 6 + 5 = 11$

Number of males $= \frac{6}{11} \times 220 = 120$

Number of females $= 220 - 120 = 100$

Department $B \Rightarrow$ Male : Female $= 5 : 4$

$∴$ Males $\Rightarrow \frac{5}{9} \times 144 = 80$

Females $\Rightarrow \frac{4}{9} \times 144 = 64$

Department $C \Rightarrow$ Male : Female $= 1 : 1$

$∴$ Males $\Rightarrow \frac{1}{2} \times 60 = 30 = F e -$ males

Department $D \Rightarrow$ Male : Female $= 1 : 2$

$∴$ Males $\Rightarrow \frac{1}{3} \times 90 = 30$

Females $\Rightarrow 60$

Department $E \Rightarrow$ Male : Female $= 9 : 10$

Males $\Rightarrow \frac{9}{19} \times 190 = 90$

Females $\Rightarrow 100$

Required difference $= (100 + 64 + 30 + 60 + 100) - (120 + 80 + 30 + 30 + 90)$ $= 354 - 350 = 4$
