Directions : Read the following graph to answer the given question the questions given below it.

The expenditures of company $B$ in 2009 and 2010 are Rs. 12 lakhs and Rs. 14.5 lakhs respectively. What was the total income of company B in 2009 and 2010 together (in lakh rupees)?

(1) 39.75

(2) 37.95

(3) 38.75

(4) 38.55

(5) None of these

Income of company B in $2009=$ Rs. $I_{1}$, lakhs

$\therefore \frac{I_{1}-E_{1}}{E_{1}} \times 100=35$

$\Rightarrow \frac{I_{1}-12}{12}=\frac{35}{100}=\frac{7}{20}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{I_{1}-12}{3}=\frac{7}{5}$

$\Rightarrow 5 I_{1}-60=21$

$\Rightarrow 5 I_{1}=60+21=81$

$\Rightarrow I_{1}=\frac{81}{5}=$ Rs. 16.2 lakhs

Similarly,

$\frac{I_{2}-14.5}{14.5}=\frac{50}{100}=\frac{1}{2}$ $\Rightarrow 2 I_{2}-29=14.5$

$\Rightarrow 2 I_{2}=29+14.5=43.5$

$\Rightarrow I_{2}=\frac{43.5}{2}=$ Rs. 21.75 lakhs

$\therefore \quad I_{1}+I_{2}=$ Rs. $(16.2+21.75)$ lakhs $=$ Rs. 37.95 lakhs
