Directions : Refer to the pie charts and answer the given questions.

Distribution of number of bags (of domestic and international brands) sold by 5 stores in 2010 : Total number : 2700

Distribution of number of bags of international brands sold by 5 stores in 2010

Total number : 1200

What is the difference between total number of bags of domestic brands sold by stores $A$ and $B$ together and that sold by stores D and E together?

Solution: (2)

Total number of bags sold:

Stores A and B

$\Rightarrow 2700 \times (14 + 18) %$ $= \frac{2700 \times 32}{100} = 864$

Stores D and E

$\Rightarrow 2700 \times (26 + 19) %$ $= \frac{2700 \times 45}{100} = 1215$

Total number of international brand bags sold :

Stores A and B

$\Rightarrow 1200 \times (20 + 15) %$ $= 1200 \times \frac{35}{100} = 420$

Stores D and E

$\Rightarrow 1200 \times (32 + 9) %$ $= \frac{1200 \times 41}{100} = 492$

Number of domestic bags sold: Stores A and B

$\Rightarrow 864 - 420 = 444$

Stores D and E

$\Rightarrow 1215 - 492 = 723$

$∴$ Required difference $= 723 - 444 = 279$
