Directions : Refer to the pie chart carefully and answer the given questions :

Percentage of bags available in different stores in November, 2011 Total number of bags available in all the stores together is 800 :

In January 2012, the total number of bags available in all the stores together was 40 more than that available in November. What was the percentage increase in the total number of bags available in all the stores together from November to January?

(1) $7 \frac{1}{2}$

(2) 5

(3) $6 \frac{1}{2}$

(4) 4

(5) $4 \frac{1}{2}$

Solution: (2)

Number of bags available in January $2012=840$

$\therefore$ Required per cent $=\left(\frac{840-800}{800} \times 100\right)$ $=\frac{40 \times 100}{800}=5 \%$
