In China, the variants introduced support several generative AI features, including AI Portrait and AI LinkBoost. The Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro were released in the Chinese market in May with a starting price of CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 31,000) and CNY 3,399 (roughly Rs. 39,000), respectively. The upcoming global variants are expected to come with a few tweaks under the hood.

Oppo Reno 12 series expected specifications

The variants released in China run on Android 14-based ColorOS 14. Both the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro sport 6.7-inch full-HD+ 1.5K curved OLED screens with 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

The standard version is powered by a 4nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8250-Star Speed Edition SoC, while the Pro version features a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition chipset. Both the variants, Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro are equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage.

The camera details of these Chinese variants are similar. They both carry 50-megapixel main sensors alongside 50-megapixel telephoto cameras and 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooters. The vanilla model, Reno 12, has a Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, whereas the Reno 12 Pro has a Sony IMX890 main sensor.

Both Oppo Reno 12 models pack 5,000mAh batteries with support for 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. They have an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance and include in-display fingerprint sensors. However, it is noteworthy that these features are released in China and could be a little different from the variant which is set to release in India.

Oppo Reno 12 Pro, Reno 12 rumoured design details

Before Oppo could release any further details, there were widespread rumours about the design of the Reno 12 series. According to the images, leaked by a tipster, Sudhanshu Ambhore appeared to be similar to the Chinese variant.

The standard variant is claimed to feature a display that is curved on the left and right edges, unlike the Chinese variant of the Oppo Reno 12 that has the same display with four curved edges as the Reno 12 Pro model.

Meanwhile, the renders leaked by the tipster suggest that the handsets will be equipped with a triple rear camera setup and will feature flat edges. Both the volume and power buttons are shown on the right edge of the phone.

While these are just rumours, we suggest taking this information with a pinch of salt and waiting for Oppo to release all the details.
