According to the details, the car was rented.
Renukaswamy was first being ferried in an auto rickshaw and was later shifted to a car.
Darshan and his wife Pavithra Gowda were arrested on June 11 in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, whose body was dumped in a stormwater drain at Kamakshipalya.
The incident came to light after a food delivery person alerted the police about dogs eating the body of a man.
Later, on June 9, three accused approached the police and confessed to having murdered Renukaswamy over a financial dispute. As the investigation progressed, police learnt that the trio was trying to mislead the investigation and that Darshan and the gang were involved in it.
During the inquiry, the police team learnt that Darshan reportedly offered the gang members Rs 30 lakh and agreed to take care of their families till they were out of jail.
So far, 16 people have been arrested in the case, including Darshan and Pavithra.
Earlier, police sources told news agency PTI that Darshan’s aide Nagaraj was looking after all the dealings of the actor. He was also taking care of Darshan’s farmhouse in Mysuru.
Nagaraj was on the run ever since the police arrested Darshan and others in the case.
Sources did not divulge details about his co-star Pradosh’s role in the murder.
Pradosh had appeared in minor roles in some movies in which Darshan was the lead actor.
