The World of Tech Festivals of IIT

The technical festivals hosted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) may have complex names, but they are the most celebrated events of the IITs. Each year, their popularity grows exponentially. These tech fests attract not only local students but also participants from other institutes worldwide.

Each IIT schedules their tech festivals at various times throughout the year, based on their convenience.

Technex, hosted by IIT Varanasi, is a three-day annual techno-management festival held in late February or early March. It is one of Varanasi’s largest festivals. The IIT campus buzzes with a variety of activities, including competitions, workshops, guest lectures, and numerous social outreach initiatives.

Exodia, hosted by IIT Mandi, is a three-day event that is one of the largest in the Himalayan Himachal region. It draws crowds from all over India. It’s not just a tech festival; it also highlights the region’s culture, cuisine, and beauty through its events.

Wissenaire, hosted by IIT Bhubaneswar, is a tech-management festival held on the Samantapuri campus of IIT Bhubaneswar in the third week of January each year. It combines technology, science, commerce, and management to give it a fresh perspective each year. It’s a platform where talents in quizzing, coding, designing, robotics, planning, and creativity are fully expressed. Techfest at IIT Bombay is a part of a series of festivals that include a range of events such as competitions, exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. The festival was initiated in 1998 with the objective of offering a platform for students to enhance their technical skills. The festival has set a record with a footfall of 1.65 lakhs in its latest edition, attracting students, academics, corporates, and the general public from around the globe.

Tryst is the annual science and technology festival organized by IIT Delhi in February and March. The festival is popular not only among IIT and NIT students but also among students from other engineering and science colleges in India.

Amalthea is the annual tech festival of IIT Gandhi Nagar. The festival includes a Conclave, Symposium, Exhibition, and Events, all of which are fully developed here. The festival aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, with numerous speakers from the corporate world sharing their knowledge and experiences. The festival also displays technology and products to the interested public and organizes several technical and non-technical events. The event has been growing, with numerous competitions offering cash prizes.

Techniche is the annual Techno-Management festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The festival, which began in 1999, takes place in the first week of September and lasts for three days and four nights. The festival features a variety of techno-management events, from robotics to corporate modules to inspiring lecture series. It also provides a platform for entrepreneurs, innovators, and technocrats to showcase their accomplishments and skills.

Nvision, one of the major technical festivals of IIT Hyderabad, started in 2011. Students begin preparing for the festival several months in advance.

Fluxus is the tech fest organized by IIT Indore.
