Show Answer
Solution:
- Sodium thiosulphate, $\mathrm{Na}{2} \mathrm{~S}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}$ gets oxidised by chlorine water as $\mathrm{Na}{2} \mathrm{~S}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}+4 \mathrm{Cl}{2}+5 \mathrm{H}{2} \mathrm{O} \longrightarrow 2 \mathrm{NaHSO}{4}+8 \mathrm{HCl}$ $\mathrm{FeCl}{3}$ oxidises $\mathrm{Na}{2} \mathrm{~S}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}$ to $\mathrm{Na}{2} \mathrm{~S}{4} \mathrm{O}{6}$.
