Show Answer
Solution:
- Ammonia, in liquid state undergo self-ionisation as :
$$ 2 \mathrm{NH}{3} \rightleftharpoons \mathrm{NH}{4}^{+}+\mathrm{NH}_{2}^{-} $$
Thus, addition of $\mathrm{NH}{4} \mathrm{Cl}$ to liquid ammonia increases concentration of $\mathrm{NH}{4}^{+}$in solution and $\mathrm{NH}_{4} \mathrm{Cl}$ act as acid.
