(d) quicklime
$(1978,1 M)$
Show Answer
Solution:
- Quicklime $(\mathrm{CaO})$ is used for drying $\mathrm{NH}{3}$ gas because both are basic, do not react. On the other hand, $\mathrm{H}{2} \mathrm{SO}{4}$ and $\mathrm{P}{2} \mathrm{O}{5}$ are acidic, reacts with ammonia forming salts. $\mathrm{CaCl}{2}$ forms complex with ammonia.
