Solution:
- Phosgene gas is obtained by treatment of $\mathrm{CCl}_{4}$ with superheated steam :
$$ \mathrm{CCl}{4}+\mathrm{H}{2} \mathrm{O} \text { (vapour) } \longrightarrow \mathrm{COCl}_{2}+2 \mathrm{HCl} $$
