Organic Chemistry Basics 2 Question 53
53. Amongst the given options, the compound(s) in which all the atoms are in one plane in all the possible conformations (if any), is/are
(2011) (a)
(c) $\mathrm{H}{2} \mathrm{C}=\mathrm{C}=\mathrm{O}$ (b) $\mathrm{H}-\mathrm{C} \equiv \mathrm{C}-\mathrm{C} \mathbb{Z}{\mathrm{CH}_{2}}$
(d) $\mathrm{H}{2} \mathrm{C}=\mathrm{C}=\mathrm{CH}{2}$
Show Answer
Solution:
- In both (b) and (c), all the atoms are present in one single plane
In (a) 1, 3-butadiene, conformational change is possible between $\mathrm{C}{2}-\mathrm{C}{3}$ bond in which atoms will be present in more than one single plane.
In (d) allene, the terminals $\mathrm{H}-\mathrm{C}-\mathrm{H}$ planes are perpendicular to one another.
